I think this can be an interesting exercise fr both research and design.this will be a little taxing as we mit have to c wat india was before corbu uncle came and get our minds out of chandigarh.coz there is 1 thing that chandigarh outrightly leaves behind- india.
So it mit be a little difficult for us who have been fed clean straight roads, sectors, piazzas.but we must realize there is a 5000 yr old india before the 50 yr old chandigarh

nw u mit think y do I have to criticize chandigarh so much, because the whole purpose of the competition is "looking backward, moving forward"......we keep in mind wat india is before moving forward......and chandigarh was just moving forward with our backs to our past..

I think i already have a pro chandiagrh lobby on the blog.so "its a beautiful city"............but I respect
"soul more than beauty"

comments welcome ................
and for the competition i think we can look up our old LIK entries ,,and look at redesigning them ,,,.or using them for refrence...because most of them have a detailed study of settlements or buildings documented.

u cn use the blog to form teams, discuss topics, discuss about diffrent places u cm frm (places, elements u wud like to preserve ,u think r relevant evn today)

  2. and if we are looking at the past.... please try to look beyond the TAJ MAHAL..
    Nothing against the beautiful monument..
but i strongly feel that India needs to discover other RUINS in the country for which funds have not been sanctioned. :)

    @LIK...
U are very rite rajat sir that they would be of great help in this context....
but i think our lik entries are more of restricted to the north indian region alone(atleast the one i saw were)..
we need to look on a wider scale...

  3. 1.Mr Passy ,if u read properly there is no mention of taj mahal ,I mentioned 5000 yrs of india.and if u read the competition briefs before posting it says a building as simple as ur grandparents house.

2.Its not a conservation project,it asks us to c wat is good in those buildings ,settlements...and wat is still relevant ,usable in todays time.and if there is something how can we use it as designers.

I wud advice go thru the briefs...and kamal thanks for posting...hope to c other juniors gettin active...

  4. 1. Its not PASSY..It is PASSI

    2. By TAJ MAHAL, i wanted to potray MONUMENTS,
and wanted others to look beyond..
and by RUINS, i meant other old places like old houses, havelis, etc which dont get equal importance...
    Is it fine sir..
And i had posted only after going thru the briefs.....

Sabko meri maarne mein itna mazza kyun aata hai??
Dekhte baad mein hain, maarni pehle shuru kar dete hain..

  6. sir dont u feel that this competition is a resemblence of the Gsen and Lik trophies?????
i think what has already be done in the lik and gsen trophies can be seen for stage 1 which involves documentation alone..
i wl discuss the rest when we meet at the nite out..
i hope that bawa sirs clay model is in a safe by this time:)
