Design Workshop in CCA

A design workshop held, was to create awareness about the works of contemporary architects amongst the students. Ar. Vikram Desai, from Chandavarkar And Thacker Architects (C&T) Bangalore was here for 2 days to conduct this workshop.

First the students were briefed with a presentation which introduces a compilation of work of selected architects. Then a time problem was introduced to the students. Each one (group of 2 or individual) has to select and justify the building and architect as a case study for the critical inquiry. They were to express critical analysis in the form of sketches, diagrams, and photographs of the building.

A special guest lecture was also held after the workshop where Ar. Vikram Desai discussed few of the completed projects at C&T.

Here is a review of the architect of what he felt after conducting the workshop.

EA Sports @ college on monday

hey guys.. the basic idea of this blog is to connect every one in these summers. so i'd invite all who are free during evenings to come to college..either to play, hang-out, talk/discuss/gossip whatever you feel like. As of now we just play cricket but we could add up sports or activities as per response. we're meeting next on monday(13th july) at 5.30pm.
we're playing cricket in college on alternate days. Its not the usual game but a few rules altered here and there to suit our convenience..and i assure you its a lot of fun.
Hoping to see you guys on monday. any queries are welcome.

PS- the name EA sports was a result of sheer vellapan...we came up with a stupid full form... E.A.Sports- Everyday Architect Sports....

CCA in Headlines: Know the facts

Do comment after reading the fate of our beloved college. The caricature is very apt, considering the situation.

"If I were a teacher"

enough of criticizing the teachers.....lets put up wat would u do if u were in their shoes to get the best out of young architects........to make learning architecture more fun.......especially a design studio(eg. interesting topics).......we could actually recall all our sem....nd think how can we remodel our existing design problems....

stay updated !!

check out this site www.archdaily.com ,It has amazing new daily updates on wats new in the architecture world.
evn archnet.org is a nice resource centre(though mainly for islamic architecture)

Ethos team
www.ethosindia.in

I think this can be an interesting exercise fr both research and design.this will be a little taxing as we mit have to c wat india was before corbu uncle came and get our minds out of chandigarh.coz there is 1 thing that chandigarh outrightly leaves behind- india.
So it mit be a little difficult for us who have been fed clean straight roads, sectors, piazzas.but we must realize there is a 5000 yr old india before the 50 yr old chandigarh

nw u mit think y do I have to criticize chandigarh so much, because the whole purpose of the competition is "looking backward, moving forward"......we keep in mind wat india is before moving forward......and chandigarh was just moving forward with our backs to our past..

I think i already have a pro chandiagrh lobby on the blog.so "its a beautiful city"............but I respect
"soul more than beauty"

comments welcome ................
and for the competition i think we can look up our old LIK entries ,,and look at redesigning them ,,,.or using them for refrence...because most of them have a detailed study of settlements or buildings documented.

u cn use the blog to form teams, discuss topics, discuss about diffrent places u cm frm (places, elements u wud like to preserve ,u think r relevant evn today)

COLLEGE BAG

We have come up with an idea of a college bag for the students of CCA. The size has been decided in order to accomodate a sketch file and folders. It is an architects bag with internal pockets for holding pen, pencils, stationary etc. The CCA logo will be present on the coloured band. The bag is made of good quality jute.

We propose the colours as shown in the pictures and would like your vote on which appeals to you the most. If you have any additional suggestions please list them down as well.

Thanks!!
